Submission Guidelines for Marmalade Press

Thank you for considering Marmalade Press as the potential home for your manuscript. We are excited to read your work and discover the next captivating story to share with our readers. Please carefully review the following submission guidelines before sending us your manuscript.

Please do not submit outside of our submission windows. Any manuscripts received when the window is closed will not be eligible for consideration.

1. Submission Eligibility:

• Marmalade Press accepts submissions for all fiction genres, including Sci-Fi and Fantasy.
• We welcome submissions across age groups i.e. Children's literature, YA fiction, adult-focussed fiction.
• At this time, we do not accept non-fiction, poetry, or picture books. Please ensure your manuscript aligns with our focus on fiction.

2. Submission Format:

• Submissions should be sent via email to submissions@marmaladepress.co.uk.
  • Please include the following information in the body of your email:
  • Your full name
  • Contact information (email address and phone number)
  • A brief cover letter introducing yourself and your manuscript
• Attach your manuscript as a PDF file.

3. Manuscript Requirements:

• We request the submission of the first three chapters of your manuscript or a maximum of 12,000 words. Please do not send the entire manuscript initially. Please don’t submit a manuscript unless the work is complete at the time of submission.
• Ensure your manuscript is double-spaced, in a standard font (such as Times New Roman or Arial), and uses 12-point font size.
• Please ensure that page numbers are included, along with your name & and work title as a header or footer.

4. Genre Flexibility:

• Marmalade Press celebrates diversity in storytelling, and we are open to a wide range of fiction genres. Whether your story is set in a distant future or a magical realm, we're eager to explore the worlds you've created.
• We’re particularly interested in hearing from authors who feel that their work doesn’t fit squarely into a single genre.

5. Response Time:

• We aim to review all submissions within 8-12 weeks. Please be patient while our dedicated team carefully evaluates your work.

6. Multiple Submissions:

• Please only submit one manuscript to us at a time.

7. Simultaneous Submissions:

• We completely understand that it can take literary agents and publishers a long time to respond to a submission, so we are happy to accept manuscripts which have been submitted to other agents and publishers. Please inform us promptly if your manuscript is accepted by another publisher while under consideration at Marmalade Press.

8. Manuscript Status:

• We will notify you of the status of your submission via email. If your manuscript is selected for further consideration, we will provide you with additional instructions. Whilst we’re unable to give detailed, individual feedback for every submission we receive, please note that we will consider every submission carefully.

9. Privacy and Rights:

• Marmalade Press respects the privacy and intellectual property rights of authors. Rest assured that your work will be treated with the utmost confidentiality during the submission process.
